Years ago and I mean 20 years ago, The Hungry Horse used to mean ridiculously big platters at a low price. I remembered that the Six Bells offered roast (whole) turkey for one at £15 – if you can eat it all, you can have your money back.

Now-a-days, they offer good food at the budget end of the market. You can get 2 meals for £8 on certain dishes. They offer anything from curry to steaks and roasts. You can then get an array of side dishes including 20 onion rings at £3.99.

The inside of these pubs are about the same and I have been to a few of them.

On the day we went, we had chicken tikka masala, club sandwich and scampi and chips, onion rings and drinks for less than £20. We couldn’t finish our plates.

So if you are feeling hungry, in a budget mood or have to go somewhere with kids, I recommend that you seek out a hungry horse.
